LPG Conversions, Servicing & Repairs

Request an LPG Booking

Sprint Gas is a VicRoads-approved AFSACS Service Provider for the installation of gas fuel systems, servicing, repairs and maintenance on vehicles in Victoria.

Genuine parts, reliable service and technical expertise is our promise to you.

*Lowest price guaranteed on installation quotes for comparable genuine new Sprint Gas LPG complete kit installations. Excludes refurbished or second-hand parts.

Sprint Gas systems can be installed on most makes/models to convert to dual fuel. Ask if your vehicle can be converted to dual fuel, and if we don’t have a kit it may be that it has a limitation of some kind, such as engine incompatibility or space restriction, or it may be that we simply have not developed a kit for it just yet. Contact us for more information.

LPG Servicing & Repairs

We offer all Sprint Gas customers a free 1500km system check after your conversion just to make sure everything is as it should be post-installation.

We then recommend a simple one-hour service at regular intervals to check the LPG system re-tuning with diagnostic equipment, check for leaks, check electrical connections for any abnormal wear, check filters and replace, inspect the LPG cylinder.

The recommended service intervals for taxis is every 50,000km/6 months, for rideshare & other hire car vehicles every 30,000km/6 months and for private vehicles every 20,000km/12 months.

Frequently Asked Questions

The cost of an LPG conversion depends on the vehicle, the system that is installed, the quality of the products and the workmanship. At Sprint Gas we only use new genuine products in our LPG kits and our prices range from $2,800 for a 4cyl vehicle up to $4,500 for a V8 4×4.

Our installations generally take one day for 4cyl cars and a bit longer for 6cyl and V8 engines.

We offer an interest-free payment plan which is a great option when you convert your car at Sprint Gas. You can apply for a humm Big Things Credit Contract to benefit from no-interest payment plans with easy fortnightly instalments. Find out more information about humm and what you need to do to apply.

Unfortunately, the Federal Government rebate scheme ended on 30 June 2014.

The Sprint Gas Vapour Injection System (SVI) is the popular choice for Australian cars, especially taxi and rideshare vehicles, and is customised to suit most types of vehicles ranging from 4cyl to V8. Most LPG installers in Australia will have the required equipment to service a vehicle with this system installed.

The Vialle Liquid Phase Injection Systems (LPi) maximise the power output for an improved result on high-performance vehicles. Components used in the LPi system are also used in OEM applications in Australia and Europe, for example in Ford EcoLPi, HSV LPi.

After an LPG system has been installed, your car will still need petrol however the amount of petrol you will use will be greatly reduced.

LPG systems use petrol to start and to lubricate the engine before switching over to LPG. Petrol is then used as a secondary source of fuel when the LPG is nearly empty. In this case, there will be a beeping sound from the changeover switch and the vehicle will automatically run on petrol before you next fill up.

LPG is a different fuel to petrol and has a lower calorific value per litre, which means that you will use approximately 25% more fuel when running on LPG.  However because of the price difference at the pump you will still pay less for autogas than petrol so your operating costs will be significantly reduced.

If you are  having issues with the LPG system currently installed in your car, we recommend you book a service at Sprint Gas and our technicians can advise whether there would be any benefits for you in upgrading the system. A simple re-tune is often the better option and less costly.

It is possible to improve performance especially when upgrading from older mixer systems to vapour injection, but there are some LPG systems which can’t be upgraded, for example, upgrading an eGas Falcon to liquid injection. This is because LPi is dual fuel technology with different electronics and components that makes retrofitting earlier eGas cars with EcoLPi components not viable.

You can find autogas in most service stations around Australia. To find the nearest location, download Autogas Near Me developed by Unigas & ACAPMA and available for Apple and Android users.
